Spring
Volume 2
Welcome to the online edition of Spring.
On a small side street in central Verona a kiosk can be found nestled between the city’s fashion stores, restaurants and wine bars.
Whilst a river of tourists flow past, making their way between the Arena Di Verona and Casa di Giullietta, bookseller Daniele opens his stall for the day.
Lifting the shutters and arranging rows of secondhand books, he settles himself onto a stool ready for the work ahead.
In 1947 Daniele’s grandmother, Linda Sommi, opened a book stall. At that time she didn’t have a permanent position and so had to move each day.
That changed when she was granted a stall and has been located there ever since.
When Daniele joined the business in 1994 he followed in the footsteps of his uncle and father before him. 77 years after Linda began trading, the legacy of the bookseller of Verona continues.
